The Lorax is the 1970 environmentalist children's book by Dr Seuss. It follows the story of a young boy who meets an environmentalist creature that speaks for trees, specifically the Truffula trees. The book explores issues of deforestation which became more important as many forests were cut down. The movie adaptation of this famous tale was released on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 and went on to become one of Universal Pictures’ most successful movies of all time. The film was directed by Chris Renaud, who also directed "Despicable Me" in 2010. The film stars Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Danny DeVito, Jim Carrey and Betty White. The Lorax was released on VHS in June 1986 by Universal Studios Home Video. Universal Studios Home Video also released it on DVD in March 1987 in an Unrated Special Edition DVD along with 4 other Dr. Seuss movies."Horton Hears a Who!", "The Cat in the Hat", "Mr. Brown Can Moo! The film follows the story of a boy called Ted (Zac Efron) who tries to win the heart of Audrey (Taylor Swift) by bringing her a “perfect” Truffula Tree. He finds the last one in existence, however he is spotted by The Once-ler (Ed Helms), who owns most of the land where the trees were located. The Once-ler tells him that he cut down most of the trees to make Thneeds, which are useless items that everyone wants but no one needs. The Once-ler gives Ted his last seed, and telling him to grow it, he leaves. Ted plants the tree, only for his greedy adult rival next-door neighbour , who is currently dating Audrey’s mother (Tracey Morgan), to steal it and sell it at a profit. Ted and The Once-ler must work together to stop The Lorax (Danny DeVito) from shutting down all of the factories that The Once-ler owns. The movie was released on 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D format in theaters across the world. The film was released on 2D and 3D Blu-ray and DVD in the United States. It included some bonus features including: The Lorax opened on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 in the United States and Canada. The film made $70 million dollars at the box-office during it's opening weekend. This was Universal Pictures’ best opening weekend result for a new Dr Seuss movie since "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" opened to $55 million dollars in November 2000. cfa1e77820
